For the record…

February 7, 2010

When the New Orleans Saints beat the Minnesota Vikings for the NFC title, the Times Picayune newspaper from Monday Jan. 25, celebrating the Saints victory over the Minnesota Vikings, sold out. They also sold out the two sets of reprints. Now, when the Saints won the Super Bowl, and even when they beat the Vikings, what did you see the coaches and players hold up? A newspaper. Imagine how many newspaper copies they’ll sell in New Orleans tomorrow. These are keepsakes. A screen grab is not.

Wake Up………eh?

February 3, 2010

This just in:

Montreal’s Arcade Fire licensed “Wake Up” to the NFL for charity. One-hundred percent of  proceeds from the Super Bowl XLIV airing will go directly to Partners in Health’s Stand with Haiti relief efforts. The indie-rock band, Partners in Health, the NFL, Merge Records and Bank Robber Music collectively agreed upon the unique 100% for charity Super Bowl licensing of the song, taken from the band’s terrific 2004 release, “Funeral.” All proceeds from the song’s airing on the live Super Bowl broadcast as well as subsequent airings on the NFL Network will go to the charity.

There ‘s no indication on how “Wake Up” might be used but don’t be surprised if you hear it soon after the Saints’ D gets to deliver a couple of those “remember me” hits to Peyton Manning.
